Acoustic performance and safety do not have to be a trade-off in laminated glass. With evguard®, Folienwerk Wolfen demonstrates how one standard laminating film can combine effective sound insulation with durable open-edge performance, without requiring a special acoustic interlayer.
Independent testing confirmed a sound reduction rating of Rw (C; Ctr) = 40 (–1; –2) dB for an 88.2 glass build-up, measured according to EN ISO 10140-2 by MFPA Leipzig. The low Ctr value highlights the interlayer’s effectiveness against low-frequency noise, including traffic sounds.
Durability is equally important. evguard® has been tested according to EN ISO 12543-4 and subjected to boil testing in accordance with ANSI Z97.1. With moisture absorption below 0.07%, measured according to EN ISO 62, the interlayer supports clear, stable glass edges over time.
The material also demonstrates reliable performance under extreme cold. Ball-drop tests were passed at 0°C, –20°C and –40°C, while frost resistance was demonstrated down to –70°C over 14 days.
These properties make evguard® a suitable solution for applications such as glass balustrades, canopies and frameless façades, where acoustic comfort, safety and durability must work together in changing weather conditions.
Folienwerk Wolfen brings acoustic performance and lasting edge stability together in one standard laminating film. Full test reports are available on request.
