With effect from March 6, 2020, the "German Institute for Building Technology" (DIBt) extended the "General Building Inspectorate Approval" (abZ) for Trosifol® SC Monolayer for another five years.

This confirms that a glass laminate equipped with this film and consisting of at least two flat glass panes may continue to be classified as laminated safety glass (VSG), thus replacing the general building approval (abZ) for the product, which expires in April 2020.

This certificate serves to assess compliance with the requirements for structural installations with regard to mechanical strength and stability in accordance with MVV TB, A 1.2.7.1, DIN 180081 when using the polyvinyl butyral (PVB) film "Trosifol® SC Monolayer B110" as an intermediate layer for laminated safety glass (LSG).

Christoph Troska, Manager, Global Architecture Segment elaborates:

“Trosifol® SC Monolayer is an important component in our noise-control concept. We therefore see the issue of the new certificate as a confirmation from DIBt for our consistent work. This means that more safety can be integrated into laminated safety glass and insulating glass structures in the future, even if more stringent requirements are placed on sound insulation. DIBT is also preparing a similar report for our other products with abZ such as SentryGlas® and Trosifol® Extra Stiff. In addition, general type approvals (aBG) are being prepared for use as laminated safety glass with shear reinforcement (VSG-S).
