Global Security Glazing, a Consolidated Glass Holdings company, officially launched ACCESSGARD™ security glazing.

Global Security Glazing (Global), a Consolidated Glass Holdings (CGH) company, officially launched ACCESSGARD™ security glazing—a cost-effective, laminated glass product that’s designed to improve a building’s security, without compromising glass performance benefits and aesthetics.

Ben Baum, vice president of security sales at CGH, said ACCESSGARD security glazing was specially developed for use in a variety of buildings to address rising security concerns and neutralize potential threats.

“At ground level, most buildings are using a lot of glass for offices, entranceways, and doors,” said Baum. “Unfortunately, glass also is seen as a weakness in terms of building security, as it’s often targeted as an access point in forced-entry scenarios. Global developed ACCESSGARD security glazing to delay entry or prevent it altogether. It’s an affordable product in commercial office buildings, public and government buildings, sports complexes, houses of worship, and manufacturing facilities.”

Tested to nationally recognized standards (ASTM 1233-08), ACCESSGARD security glazing is capable of withstanding extensive physical attack—up to six minutes and 47 seconds of continued attack with standard ACCESSGARD security glazing and up to 17 minutes with enhanced ACCESSGARD-2118 security glazing. Available for monolithic constructions and insulating glass units in new and retrofit applications, ACCESSGARD security glazing can be used in most standard framing systems and is well suited for use in ground floor areas, entryways, meeting and conference rooms, and other areas where security is a priority.

ACCESSGARD security glazing is available exclusively through all CGH companies—including Global, Dlubak Specialy Glass Corporation, J.E. Berkowitz, Solar Seal, and Columbia Commercial Building Products. It also can be custom fabricated with low-e coatings, tinted glass, bent glass, silk-screen patterns, and other options to meet performance requirements and aesthetic goals, without compromising safety.

CGH also published an ACCESSGARD security glazing brochure, which details the product’s benefits and applications, as well as fabrication capabilities, comparisons to other detention products, and test data.
