Turomas introduces the new LAM 600 series, combining patented ultra-fast cutting technology with advanced automation to maximize efficiency and productivity in laminated glass processing.

Demand for laminated safety glass continues to grow in the main international markets. New regulatory requirements, together with its increasingly widespread use in architecture and construction, are increasing production pressure on processing companies.

In this context, having production lines capable of increasing output, maintaining quality and reducing downtime has become an operational necessity.

To meet this challenge, TUROMAS presents the new LAM 600 series, a cutting line incorporating exclusive technical solutions designed to outperform any equivalent equipment on the market: a patented integrated lamp and breaking system that performs heating and breaking in a single operation. Patented diagonal cutting system, automatic rotation of sheets measuring between 400 x 700 mm (15 x 27”) and 6100 x 3300 mm (240 x 130”), and automatic strip removal up to 40 mm, all coordinated with the web technology-based operating system with Industry 4.0 integration.

Ultra-fast cutting: lamp integrated into the breaking and separation unit

TUROMAS’ patented integrated lamp system reduces the laminated glass cutting cycle by up to 10 seconds by combining heating, breaking and separation in a single operation. Together with the blade breakage prevention system and the full automation of the LAM 600, it enables increased productivity and line capacity whilst maintaining the final quality of the glass.

In high-performance lines, keeping production running with as few interruptions as possible and reducing the time of each cycle are two key factors in increasing production capacity.

With this approach, TUROMAS has developed a patented high-speed cutting and breaking system that simultaneously performs the processes of heating, breaking and separating laminated glass. The key to this speed lies in the integration of the heating lamp directly into the breaking unit, so that both operations are performed in a single action.

Combined with the blade anti-breakage system — which controls the separation of the glass to ensure the blade enters without risk of breakage — the result is a reduction in the cutting cycle of up to 10 seconds compared with conventional solutions, increasing productivity without compromising the final quality of the glass.

Building on this foundation of reduced cycle times, the LAM 600 automates all stages of the process—loading, positioning, cutting, rotation and sheet removal—so that each stage starts at the optimal moment without unnecessary waiting between operations.
The result is a line capable of delivering higher capacity in response to increased demand, without the need to increase production resources in the same proportion.

Advanced features for more efficient production

The line also incorporates an automatic rotation system, which orients the glass for the next sequence without operator intervention. The system automatically handles sheets ranging from 400 x 700 mm (15 x 27”) to 6100 x 3300 mm (240 x 130”), adapting the process without the need for manual reprogramming. In most cases, this operation is performed in a single movement and always acts on the underside of the sheet, avoiding contact with the upper surface and providing special protection for Low-E coatings.

Turomas LAM 600

To address optimisations where narrow strips have very small dimensions, the LAM 600 series incorporates strikers and vacuum pads, specific solutions that allow strips of up to 40 mm to be broken out and removed fully automatically, ensuring precision and continuity in the process.

The series also incorporates a modular lamp system organised into sections, which activates only the length required for each cut to optimise processing times and energy efficiency. Depending on the model and bridge length, they include 3 or 4 sections of 1250 or 1550 mm each.

Adaptable configuration with mixed lines for greater plant flexibility

Not all factories require the same capacity or the same workflow. For this reason, the LAM 600 series offers a range of in-line configuration options, notably dual-bridge configurations that allow production capacity to be doubled, or mixed lines capable of processing laminated and monolithic glass within the same automated environment. This solution allows different processes to be concentrated in a single facility, increasing production flexibility and enabling a more agile response to changes in demand or variable production runs.

Web technology and Industry 4.0 integration

The use of web technologies combined with control software, developed in accordance with the IEC 61131-3 standard, is one of the most significant advantages of the LAM 600 series. Thanks to this combination, the system has real-time access to the characteristics of each piece being processed on the line, as well as all information relating to the piece (manufacturer, order reference, customer), providing full process traceability. This enables a fully automatic workflow with any sorting system or automatic parts management system, integrating the LAM 600 seamlessly into the factory’s digital ecosystem.

The system also incorporates an extensive library of operational modules: optimisation management, drawing editing, breakage management, manual cutting, material-specific recipes, preheating, and specific modes for different types of cutting (sum mode, Z-scoring mode, etc.).

Options focused on productivity and traceability

The LAM 600 series offers a wide range of options that allow the line to be adapted to the specific needs of each installation. Among these, the patented system for positioning and cutting straight shapes and balustrades in laminated safety glass stands out. The system consists of two mechanical stops that enable quick and precise positioning, eliminating the need for additional tools and reducing cutting time.

Turomas LAM 600

For applications requiring the processing of low-emissivity glass, the LAM 600 can incorporate an advanced Low-E edge deletion system, equipped with a high-performance grinding wheel that continuously adjusts and monitors pressure to ensure perfect removal of the Low-E coating, whilst also integrating a waste extraction and self-sharpening system. It is also possible to integrate label printing systems that automate the identification of pieces during glass removal, improving traceability and process organisation.

With a view to maximising productivity, the line can incorporate an additional side lamp that allows scoring of the next sheet to continue whilst the previous one is being separated, optimising the time between operations.
