Today 274 employees work for the Turkish company Tamcam Oto Cam Sanayii A.S., checking anisotropy and edge stress with a horizontal LineScanner from SOFTSOLUTION.

Since 1974, the Turkish company Tamcam Oto Cam Sanayii A.S., with its headquarters in Istanbul, has specialized in the production of flat glass, safety glass, windscreens and toughened safety glass. Today 274 employees work for the renowned glass producer, checking anisotropy and edge stress with a horizontal LineScanner from SOFTSOLUTION.

Anisotropy appears in windows and glass facades when polarized light hits the glass during certain weather conditions. Modern tempering techniques make it possible to significantly increase the uniformity of the stresses within the glass which in turn reduces the appearance of anisotropy effects. The LineScanner on a LandGlass tempering furnace inspects each glass for isotropic, as well as anisotropic, areas of a tempered lite in a single scan process with minimal space requirements and measures different parameters such as:

  • Light delay in nanometers per pixel over the entire lite
  • Measuring range up to 465nm or optionally up to 900nm

For a professional and comprehensive definition of the quality, it is also important to measure the edge stress along all edges of a specific lite. By doing so, the LineScanner determines the edge stress levels and provides a precise result regarding the expected fragmentation pattern. This unique and telecentric approach, provided by the SOFTSOLUTION LineScanner, offers a solution that includes every combination of quality check within a single quality inspection system.
