In an interview, the managing director talks about the dynamics in product innovations and energy-efficient technologies.

1. Mr. Gioello, you have been responsible for the SANCO Group since May 2020. What is your assessment of the first two years?

The last two years have presented the construction industry with many challenges; after all, it was marked not only by the Corona pandemic, but also by material shortages, rising raw material prices and the general economic uncertainties caused by the Ukraine war. Despite these special circumstances, I am pleased to look back on a positive development of the Group.

2. What are your goals for the coming years?

We want to maintain momentum in product innovation and sales support for partners. We also aim to achieve qualitative growth and acquire new license partners over the next few years. The SANCO quality criteria, which must always be adhered to in the course of acquisitions, are strategically decisive in this regard.

3. Why should insulating glass manufacturers join or switch to SANCO?

As an alliance of SME insulating glass manufacturers, we use our strength to help positively shape the technical and legal framework for our industry and to consolidate the position of glass as a building material in the market. In addition, we provide support in practical business matters, such as certifications or marketing activities.

4. In your opinion, what will be the most important technical innovations in the coming years?

Glass has already become one of the most innovative building materials in recent decades, meeting the highest standards of thermal insulation and thus making a significant contribution to energy saving. However, I see further innovations not only in glass solutions that reduce resource consumption, but above all in glass that generates energy.

5. What are SANCO and the license partners themselves doing to save energy?

We all attach great importance to constantly reducing energy consumption and thus also CO2 emissions. This is done in float glass production, for example, by using green electricity or through energy recovery. Our license partners are also constantly investing in more efficient machines and technologies to minimize resource consumption.
