COOL-LITE® SKL 170 is a highly selective solar control coating, specifically designed for use embedded in laminated glass, in position 2, against the interlayer.

At Saint-Gobain Glass, our customers are at the heart of everything we do, continuously innovating to meet their evolving needs. By closely listening to our clients and engaging with stakeholders all along the value chain, we gain a deep understanding of the challenges they face and the opportunities they are seeking.

This launch of the COOL-LITE® SKL 170 is based on these insights. It offers a solution that goes beyond existing offerings, combining agility, technical expertise, and responsiveness to address specific project needs and deliver real added value.

The “L” of SKL stand for to-be-laminated; developed for this configuration, COOL-LITE® SKL 170 offers not only a neutral aesthetic, consistent whatever the viewing angles, but also high selectivity. This double silver coating provides a high light transmission above 70% and enhanced solar protection.

As external skin of a Double Skin Façade (DSF) or Close Cavity Façade (CCF) it ensures:

  • A high visible light transmission (TL), to optimize the daylight entering the building through such complex, multi-panel façades.
  • A low solar factor, helping to reduce the temperature inside the cavity and ensuring the durability of the blinds, as well as enabling savings in ventilation system sizing.
  • A neutral and angle-stable aesthetic, with a low level of reflection, meeting market demands and local regulations.

Other applications can also benefit from the advantages of COOL-LITE® SKL 170, such as:

  • Skylights and roof glazing, to provide solar protection while allowing daylight to enter. It’s ideal for large, glazed roof areas where insulation is less critical.
  • Entrance structures and canopies, to enhance visual appeal while reducing glare and heat. It’s often used in public buildings, shopping centers, and transport hubs.
  • Train station halls and atriums, to control solar gain in large open spaces. It maintains visual comfort and reduces cooling loads.

COOL-LITE® SKL 170 is also available on ORAÉ® low-carbon glass, to combine performance and sustainability and provide the best of both embodied and operational carbon levels.

This product is covered by a verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and is Cradle to Cradle Certified® V4.0 Bronze.

More than just a product, the new COOL-LITE® SKL 170 demonstrates our ambition to build true partnerships with our customers, helping them unlock new design possibilities and bring innovative projects to life.
