Saint-Gobain Glass: INSIO® becomes the first tempered vacuum glazing with 0.3–0.5 W/m²K insulation to earn CE marking

What if ultra-thin glass could insulate better than triple glazing? That’s now a recognized reality, and will help make buildings more energy efficient!

Saint-Gobain Glass, a global leader in flat glass for building applications, proudly announces that its next-generation vacuum glazing solution INSIO®, has obtained voluntary CE marking, becoming the first tempered vacuum insulating solution in the world with thermal insulation values (Ug) ranging from 0.3 to 0.5 W/m²K, to carry this marking.

This milestone follows the company’s recent strategic partnership with LuxWall, the pioneer in Transparent Insulation technology and reinforces Saint-Gobain Glass’ proactive commitment to innovation, quality, and energy savings in the building industry.

The CE marking for INSIO® was obtained following the EOTA route for Vacuum Insulating Glass Units (EAD 300021-00-0404 / ETA 25/0363). It confirms that the whole INSIO® range meets the rigorous European requirements in terms of product performance and durability, ensuring product reliability across the European Economic Area.

INSIO® incorporates LuxWall’s advanced vacuum insulation technology, setting a new standard for energy-efficient glazing. Thanks to this innovation, INSIO® delivers insulation levels that exceed those of traditional triple glazing, while being significantly thinner. Its slim profile allows for enhanced design freedom and contributes to energy savings, all without compromising on comfort or aesthetics.

“Achieving CE marking for INSIO® highlights the reliability of this next-generation glazing solution and marks a major step forward in our mission to support building decarbonization and energy efficiency,” said Fabrice Desmons, International Marketing Director Building Glass. “This recognition not only validates the technical excellence of our solution but also ensures that architects, engineers, developers, and building owners can confidently specify INSIO® in their retrofit and new built projects.”

“This CE marking is a meaningful milestone in bettering the built environment,” said Scott Thomsen, CEO & Founder of LuxWall. “It demonstrates that high-performance Transparent Insulation can meet the most rigorous requirements for reliability in real-world applications and signals that the next-generation of glazing innovation is ready for broad adoption across Europe.”

The CE marking of INSIO® further reinforces the position of CLIMAPLUS® INSIO®, which was already CE marked. This double-glazing unit integrating INSIO® is fully suited for standard window systems, making high-end vacuum insulation easily accessible for both new construction and renovation projects, without compromising on design flexibility or ease of installation.

With this achievement, Saint-Gobain Glass and LuxWall continue to lead the transformation of the building envelope, turning glass from an energy liability into a high-performance asset.
