On 19 February, Glass for Europe hosted its first online workshop on Reaction to fire for national partners.

Glass and glazing national associations demanded to discuss the issue with peers from other countries and companies’ experts, and Glass for Europe’s workshops resulted to be the best format to provide a forum for discussion to its membership.

What is the impact on windows, facades, and related components of national regulation requirements on reaction to fire? During the workshop on Reaction to fire, national associations tried to answer this question by sharing information on the requirements in place at the national level and by reporting on the discussions occurring with national governments.

A presentation from N. Wruk, Chairman of the Standardisation Committee of Glass for Europe, introduced the issue from an EU perspective and illustrated Glass for Europe’s activities on the topic. National partners’ representatives from UDTPV (Union des Transformateurs de Verre Plat) and GGF (Glass and Glazing Federation), reported respectively about the situation following the Arrêté du 7 août 2019 in France and the ban of laminated glass use in balustrades in the UK.
