AGC and unions sign competitiveness agreement for Sagunto plant

Date: 27 November 2013

AGC Flat Glass Ibérica and the labour unions have just signed an agreement aimed at raising the competitiveness of the Sagunto plant in Spain in a lasting way.   The plant produces float glass and also processes it into mirrors, laminated glass and matt glass.

The plan includes wage aspects and industrial aspects, in particular the following:

  • wage reductions averaging around 10% for all members of personnel, some 140 people;

  • a substantial investment designed to raise the energy efficiency of the plant.

This competitiveness agreement also opens the way to an extensive repair of the float line at a subsequent stage, thus securing the future of the plant.

Based in Barcelona, AGC Flat Glass Ibérica is a member of AGC Glass Europe. The latter in turn is the European branch of the world’s largest glassmaker, AGC. The company is active in production and distribution of large sheets of glass for the construction industry and interior decoration.
