Solutia Inc. today announced new strategic initiatives for the North American automotive market. The following is a quote from Richard J.

Daniels, North American Automotive Sales Director, Laminated Glazing Products and Services:

"Despite continued reduction in OEM production forecasts for 2002, demand for superior product and service solutions is still growing. To take advantage of this opportunity with our customers, we are announcing three new strategic initiatives:

1. We are aligning ourselves with laminator partners that are market and technology leaders, and are creating value for their customers and the end users.

2. We will be rapidly launching Vanceva(TM) brand Advanced Solutions for Glass(TM) products that provide added-value solutions to a wide array of OEM and consumer needs.

3. While we grow and vigorously defend the emerging markets where we deliver our value-added products and services, we will continue to support our core Saflex(R) business and fully intend to maintain our current position. Further, we have plans in place to continue to expand to meet this demand through low cost debottlenecking.

We believe these initiatives will increase overall demand for value-added glazing solutions."

Solutia Inc. an independent, publicly owned enterprise headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is a producer of the PVB plastic interlayer that is used to manufacture the laminated glass used in automotive windshields, architectural and residential applications throughout the world, and the only producer of PVB for aircraft --the most demanding application. The company's other businesses include synthetic fibers, resins, aviation hydraulic fluids, high-performance specialty chemicals and other performance products.
