From 10 to 14 June, Glass for Europe is attending the summer study of European Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ECEEE) to exchange on building energy efficiency and the role that glazing plays in it.

Glass for Europe is gaining and sharing insights with the energy efficiency community on the key priorities for the flat glass value chain and its contribution to EU renovation objectives.

The ECEEE summer study 2024 is a chance to discover new research on energy efficiency in buildings and provides an environment for exchanges on EU policies such as the new Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.

Adrien Carton, Sustainable Construction and Industrial Policy Manager at Glass for Europe, presented on the necessity of considering all relevant performance indicators when setting policy requirements for building glass.

Justin Loup, Technical Regulations and Project Advisor at Glass for Europe, contributed by presenting works on the lifecycle carbon emissions of windows within the EU. This was a chance to exchange ideas with experts on the carbon footprint associated with window production and use.

Since the guidance on the performance of transparent elements will be published soon by the European Commission, Glass for Europe took the opportunity at this summer study to explain and discuss research on the impacts of glazing solar gain on building efficiency.
