Vitro Architectural Glass is pleased to announce that its refined VacuMax™ Vacuum Insulating Glass (VIG) was honored by Architectural Record as one of the Best Architectural Products of 2024.

Architectural Record’s prestigious Best of Products competition showcases the top building materials and furnishings introduced to the North American market over the past year. A panel of architects and designers evaluates the entries based on innovation, functionality, sustainability and aesthetics.

Now manufactured exclusively with Solarban® 70 solar-control, low-e glass by Vitro, VacuMax™ VIG provides a substantial 79% improvement in U-values, delivering world-leading R-values of up to R20, rivaling the performance of traditional walls.

The VIG unit is comprised of two lites of 4mm (0.16") glass separated by a non-leaded proprietary metal edge seal and a vacuum space. The unit's slender design and light weight make it easy to integrate into traditional glazing systems, window frames or curtainwall applications. It is often used to replace monolithic glazing in older buildings, making it well-suited for retrofit projects.

Thanks to its innovative insulating technology, VacuMax™ VIG provides thermal insulation performance three to five times better than conventional insulating glass units and up to 20 times better than monolithic glass. Furthermore, in addition to the notable thermal improvements, recent visual enhancements have improved appearance by eliminating vacuum ports and discreetly concealing "getters."
