Glass Alliance Europe answered to the stakeholder consultation on the Staff Working Document “For a resilient, innovative, sustainable and digital energy-intensive industries ecosystem: Scenarios for a transition pathway“, to which Glass for Europe actively contributed.

By way of Glass for Europe’s chairman, Philippe Bastien from AGC Glass Europe, and Glass for Europe’s Secretary General, Bertrand Cazes, Glass Alliance Europe participates in the activities of the High-Level Group on energy-intensive industries: providing advice and expertise, and representing the interest of the entire glass industry.

Resilience is the capacity of our industry to operate in a stable and long-term manner. To keep on operating in Europe, the European glass sectors require stability and a long-term perspective. Support to glass manufacturing decarbonisation efforts, as well as to alleviate energy costs and ensure stability in the supply of energy and of raw materials, are crucial in this regard.

Glass is essential in many economic sectors such as automotive & transport, buildings, renewables, food & drink, pharmaceutics, perfumery, jewellery, the electrical and electronics industry, etc. In order to thrive, and because of the interdependence between sectors, it is necessary for the whole value chains in the glass ecosystems to remain robust and resilient.
