CMS Glass Technology has built its reputation on flat and curved glass processing — CNC machining centers, cutting tables, seaming machines and waterjet systems used across architecture, interior decoration, aerospace, automotive and marine applications. Over the years, the company has kept adding to that range while also working on something less visible but just as important: making the machines themselves easier to run day to day.
That's the thread connecting what CMS is bringing to Glasstec this year. Alongside an expanded product line, the company will present three machines from its portfolio — Electa, Ypsos mk2 and Aura — along with a reworked software interface aimed at simplifying operation rather than adding complexity.
Cms electa is the new compact 3/4-axis horizontal CNC with the smallest footprint and largest work area in its category. Electa is designed to perform seaming, grinding, peripheral- and cup-wheel-polishing, milling, drilling and countersinking, disc cutting, engraving, writing, and 5° bevelling operations.
Ypsos mk2 is the vertical machining center developed by CMS, ideal to process float and laminated glass sheets, entirely designed thanks to many decades of experience in the glass industry. This is the first and only vertical CNC machining center capable of grinding and polishing with two heads at the same time. This project was conceived to reach the best reliability ever in the vertical CNC category. The new software has been designed to make the user interface more efficient and intuitive than ever. Based on the configuration selected. Ypsos can carry out seaming, polished and industrial grinding, milling and coaxial drilling operations.
This machine provides absolute accuracy and quality, accompanied by the classic benefits in terms of productivity and versatility given by the vertical machining process. Available in 3 standard sizes, it allows the processing of small and large-sized parts up to 6,000 x 3,300mm max. (additional maximum processable sizes available upon request). Ypsos can be used as a stand-alone machine, in line with a drilling-milling machine or inside an insulating line.
For the first time at Glasstec, CMS will showcase Aura, its dry vertical seaming machine.
Aura is the vertical dry seaming machine specially developed to machine edges without the use of water (dry seaming). Aura can be used as a stand-alone machine, in line with a vertical washing machine and is the perfect machine to be part of a double-glazing line.
Aura can seam monolithic, laminated or low-e treated glass and it is designed to meet the needs of customers who demand ease of use, quick installation, reliability and low cost of system ownership.
The operator loads the glass and starts the processing cycle, the machine automatically measures the incoming glass (height, length and thickness) and machines the edge. It also adapts its operating units to different thicknesses.
SOFTWARE AND DIGITAL SERVICES:
ACTIVE VGlass is the new generation of CMS software interface for vertical glass processing machines. Designed with the operator experience at its core, it combines ease of use, automation, and advanced machine control to make production processes even more efficient.
With its modern and intuitive interface, Active VGlass enables operators to create new projects directly on the machine, import files in the most common formats, and automatically manage standard geometries, reducing setup time and minimizing the risk of errors.
New real-time monitoring features provide complete visibility into the machining process through dedicated dashboards, program progress tracking, tool status monitoring, and production estimates. This allows operators to respond quickly to changing production conditions and maximize overall productivity. Completing the system, the new Tool Manager streamlines tool and tool magazine management, making machine setup faster, more intuitive, and more reliable.
With Active VGlass, CMS introduces an advanced software platform that enhances efficiency, reduces operational complexity, and provides glass processors with a powerful solution to meet the demands of modern manufacturing.
All CMS machines include a 1-year free subscription to CMS Connect, the innovative Industrial IoT platform. In addition to its IoT solutions, the CMS Digital Services portfolio also includes CMS Active, the userfriendly interface and CMS Control Room, our proactive remote service and support solution.
Thanks to its tradition and experience, today CMS Glass Technology is a reliable partner in the glass fabrication sector and provides anything from standard machines to tailor-made, fully automated systems to meet customer needs.
