The presence of multilayer structures and sensitive coatings exposes the material to a high risk of defects during fabrication. Fire-resistant glass is even more critical: the intermediate layers based on flame-retardant gel or intumescent materials are sensitive to moisture. A correct drying phase is therefore essential after fabrication to prevent degradation and ensure the finished product has the required performance.

Thick laminated glass is now generally cut in straight lines using vertical panel saws. However, this approach requires subsequent chamfering or seaming to create irregular profiles.
For this reason, fabricating with such complex glass requires technological solutions such as those developed by CMS Glass Technology, capable of ensuring precision, process reliability, and constant quality.
CMS sprint and electa: CMS solutions for bulletproof and fire-resistant glass

CMS sprint is ideal for cutting sheets to increase productivity in laminated, fire-resistant or safety glass fabrication lines.
It can fabricate square, rectangular, and polygonal glass, with vertical cuts and cuts at 45° angles. The built-in vacuum manipulator automatically moves and spaces sections after cutting to eliminate manual intervention, thus improving safety and increasing process efficiency.

CMS electa machining center, instead, can overcome the limitations of traditional machining to create regular, controlled edges and chamfers, which is very important for fire-resistant and bulletproof glass.
The high dynamics of the axes allows the machine to perform shaping, grinding, polishing, drilling and milling, as well as fabricate shapes and increase production flexibility.
The outcome? Superior edge quality, less scrap and reworking, better process reliability and higher productivity.
