The renewable energy industry is growing at a fast pace. It continues to expand, not just in numbers, but also into new types of environments with new technologies such as floating solar arrays.

Floating solar panels in terms of technology are similar to the panels installed on a roof. Difference is that they’ve been adapted to fit on to floating platforms, which are designed to be placed on water bodies.

Floating PV systems have a lot of ecological advantages as there is no disruption to fish or birds, impact on water quality, reduces water evaporation saving water used for drinking and irrigation.

A presentation was made by Mr. P V S Raju, highlighting the dangers of Antimony presence in solar glass iterating that BOROSIL is the first company in the world to have successfully made ANTIMONY FREE and 2 MM FULLY TEMPERED SOLAR TEXTURED GLASS which is ideal for such applications with exceptional resistance to degradation caused by moisture.

Floating systems made with Bi-facial glass-to-glass modules using fully tempered 2 mm glass deliver up to 30% more power with an extended warranty of up to 40 years.
