Softsolution presented innovation at glasstec

The SOFTSOLUTION LineScanner is an all-in-one system. Besides surface defects, dimension and logo testing it now also checks glass for anisotropies while at the same time measuring the edge stress. Glass manufacturers and visitors to Düsseldorf’s glasstec trade fair used 3D glasses in order to inspect glass panels on the CulletScanner – and they were highly impressed!

The glasstec trade fair in Düsseldorf is the world's largest and most international trade fair for the glass industry and its suppliers. This year, the event took place from 23 to 26 October. Austria-based company SOFTSOLUTION was among the renowned exhibitors that had traveled to Düsseldorf, showcasing a true innovation at its booth: the all-in-one LineScanner, which combines several quality tests within one control unit.

Thomas Schuller, CEO of SOFTSOLUTION, explained the system’s innovative functionality to customers, partners and interested companies from all over the world: “Up to now, the quality of thermally toughened glass can only be determined using destructive tests. With the help of our innovation, the quality of tempered glass and heat strengthened glass can be assessed non-destructively, and stress interferences, i.e. anisotropies, can be identified. In addition, the scan also measures the edge stress.”

Innovation becomes visible – with 3D glasses and light table

At the booth, glass manufacturers and refiners came together to witness for themselves the products of SOFTSOLUTION – with special attention given to the stress conditions and interferences within the glass, known as anisotropies.

At the same time, it was explained how edge stress measurement based on isochromatic lines takes place. Visitors to the CulletScanner were able to view the results live by means of 3D glasses. Glass professionals from all over the world were convinced.

Schuller: “Our goal was not just to talk about how the pretensioning test works. We wanted everyone to see the benefits of this measuring method!” Once again, the many technical discussions and industry-specific exchange of information revealed: SOFTSOLUTION is one of the most innovative companies in the glass industry.
