DB™ 4 Advanced Bending and Tempering System

Worldwide automotive glass processors continue to require higher productivity, higher quality and higher efficiency from their bending and tempering systems. The Glasstech DB™ 4 Advanced Bending and Tempering System has set the worldwide standard for the production of complex, high quality press-bent sidelites, quarterlites and backlites.

Recent enhancements to the DB 4 have improved optical quality and shape accuracy and have provided increased glass yield.

The DB 4 Quick-Change tooling and Fast Cycle improvements have reduced tooling changeover time from the traditional 6 hours to 90 minutes or less and have increased output by 20 percent. The Quick Change and the Fast Cycle options can be ordered together or separately on new DB 4 systems or retrofitted to existing models.

EPB-SS™ External Press Bending System and the EPB-DS™ External Press Bending System

To meet the demands of automotive glass processors for sidelites with very accurate peripheral and body shape and the highest optical quality, Glasstech now has two versions of its External Press Bending (EPB) System.

The EPB-SS™ External Press Bending System accommodates a single stream of glass parts; and the recently introduced EPB-DS™ External Press Bending System, with a 72-inch (1829mm)-wide bed, can accommodate either a single- or dual-stream of parts.

The EPB-SS and the EPB-DS systems are versatile, efficient, high-throughput systems that bend and temper or heat-strengthen cylindrical-, compound- and complex-shaped parts as well as symmetrical or asymmetrical parts. Either system can be configured as a high-capacity system with cycle times of approximately seven seconds per load (of one or two parts) or as moderate-capacity systems with cycle times of approximately 15 seconds per load.

The Glasstech SDB-L™ Super Deep Bend Forming and Annealing System for Windshield Glass

The Glasstech SDB-L™ Super Deep Bend Forming and Annealing System for Windshield Glass can produce the most complex windshield shapes at the highest production rates currently available for such complex parts.

The SDB-L produces windshield singles using patented stress-control technology with accuracy, speed and reliability. The SDB-L can produce up to 300 windshield singles per hour. The system is capable of processing glass parts with a maximum depth of bend of 380mm (15 inches) and minimum radius of 120mm (4.8 inches).

The SDB-L processes Low-E glass at the highest speeds in the industry by using either Glasstech’s gas fired Forced Convection Heater or the highly efficient Electric Radiation Heater. The Self-Aligning Quick Change tooling feature reduces part changeover time to approximately 90 minutes.

Architectural

FCH2™ Architectural Flat-Glass Tempering System

The Glasstech FCH2™ Architectural Flat-Glass Tempering System is a gas fired forced convection system that processes clear or coated glass, including hard- and soft-coated Low-E glass.

Under normal circumstances, the FCH2 can heat clear glass at a typical cycle time of 30 seconds per millimeter of thickness and high-performance, soft-coat Low-E glass at a typical cycle time of 33 seconds per millimeter. Reduced heating time provides for higher quality with less distortion, improves productivity, results in superior flatness and reduces processing cost.

Gas fired forced convection heating offers the lowest energy costs per square foot of glass processed and has been proven to be as much as 50 percent less expensive to operate than standard electric heaters. Also, gas provides 25 percent shorter cycle times.

CRBA™ Cylindrical Radius Bending and Tempering System

Glasstech’s CRBA™ Cylindrical Radius Bending and Tempering System bends and tempers large glass parts for both the automotive and architectural markets. This one system can process large, cylindrical symmetrical and asymmetrical sidelites for buses and trains as well as shaped shower doors, room dividers and panels for building exteriors.

The CRBA features a larger 1,500mm- (59-inch) bed and produces cylindrical shapes as well as shapes with two radii, J-bends or V-bends.

All CRB systems are designed to produce accurate, high-quality cylindrical shapes. The systems are simple and efficient to operate and highly productive. Glass processed on the systems meets exacting tolerances with excellent optical qualities.

CRB systems process glass from 3mm (.118 inch) to 6mm (.25 inch) in thickness. They do not require part-dedicated tooling and can accomplish part shape changeovers in a few minutes.

Glasstech Advanced Bending and Tempering System™

Glasstech’s Advanced Bending and Tempering System™ (ABTS) allows architects and designers the freedom to create curved glass elements for buildings, display cases, shower stalls and furniture from clear, tinted or coated glass.

Now available in a 96-inch width, this new ABTS processes glass parts for even larger construction projects and for use on large ships. ABTS bends can range from graceful “S” curves to those with a constant radius. The ABTS avoids the need for expensive tooling by using a combined bending and quenching section, controlled by an advanced PC interface. This approach also permits quick shape changeovers, since the computer records shape parameters and stores the data for future reference.

Glass from 6mm to 12mm in thickness and as large as 2440mm (8 feet) by 3660mm (12 feet) can be bent on the ABTS into graceful, custom-specified curves.
