Tūranga is the most important public library in Christchurch, New Zealand. It was opened in October 2018 and replaced the central library nearby, which was destroyed by the earthquake in 2011.

The new building was designed by Architectus – an architecture firm from New Zealand – and the award-winning Danish architecture firm Schmidt Hammer Lassen. The design of the building is inspired by the golden colours of the Port Hills, which are an important part of the Christchurch cityscape.

Accordingly, the architects used the triple silver coating SILVERSTAR SUPERSELEKT 60/27 from Glas Trösch with its light-blue reflection. The light transmission of 60% ensures that the rooms are flooded with daylight. This reduces the need for artificial light. The very low g-value of just 27% helps to prevent the interior from heating up. These features lead to reductions in both costs and CO2 emissions.

As a result, less artificial light is required. The cabin doesn't heat up as much because to the extremely low g-value of only 27%.  - Carl Scott
