NGA sponsors PCR development initiative with Smart EPD

Smart EPD is opening a Call for Participation for a new North American PCR for Flat and Processed Glass, sponsored by the National Glass Association (NGA).

Both legacy PCRs for this category have reached the end of their validity: the NGA PCR for Flat Glass (UN CPC 3711), Version 2 (NSF International), and the PCR Part B: Processed Glass EPD Requirements (UL 10010-31). Under this new PCR, flat and processed glass will be consolidated into a single, current, PCR conformant with the latest ISO standards and current best practices. This effort will enable manufacturers to have an up-to-date and valid basis for developing and verifying EPDs in this category.

The planned scope will cover flat and processed glass in the North American market with a declared cradle-to-gate (A1–A3) scope for float, rolled and tinted flat glass, and coated, laminated, heat-treated and insulating glass units.

NGA and Smart EPD are inviting manufacturers and fabricators, LCA practitioners, verifiers, architects and specifiers, NGOs, government, academia, and other stakeholders across the glass supply chain to apply to serve on this committee.

Interested parties must apply for the committee online by October 31.
