Upgraded Features for Non-Invasive IGU Testing

Sparklike is excited to announce the launch of the Sparklike Laser Portable 2.2, the latest enhancement to our portfolio of non-destructive insulating glass unit (IGU) gas concentration measuring devices. This innovative tool is designed to improve the way IGUs are tested, delivering unprecedented precision, user-friendliness, and enhanced features tailored to meet the evolving needs of industry professionals.

Enhanced Features and Technology

The Sparklike Laser Portable 2.2 introduces several new features and enhancements, improving usability, accuracy, and overall functionality:

  • Replaceable Measuring Head: A game-changing feature that allows for the calibration of only the measuring head without sending the entire device. This reduces transportation costs and minimizes downtime, making the process more efficient. Customers have the possibility to purchase additional measuring head with the device which allows changing the calibrated measuring head yourself when the calibration is approaching and sending the expired measuring head to Sparklike Calibration Center for calibration.
  • Average Measurement Results Using Counter: This feature automatically calculates and displays the average of multiple measurements, simplifying quality control processes by providing a clear and concise overview of IGU performance.
  • Software-Based Laser Temperature Adjustment: The laser temperature is now adjusted solely through software, eliminating the need for manual adjustments. Additionally, the I & R test on the Test page has been updated to I & T, indicating temperature (T) instead of resistance (R), streamlining the calibration process.
  • Single Pane Thickness Measurement: The new version now supports single pane thickness measurement, expanding the device’s versatility and enabling more comprehensive testing capabilities.
  • Wireless Bar Code Reader: Integrated wireless bar code reader functionality enhances traceability and allows for easy documentation and tracking of IGUs during testing.
  • Battery Low Notification: A highly anticipated update, this feature alerts users when the battery is low, ensuring that the device is always ready for use. Previously, battery status was only visible through the light on the power switch/button, making this a valuable addition for uninterrupted operations.
  • Improved Software and User Information: The software has undergone visual and functional enhancements, including the calibration validity being linked to the measuring head's serial number rather than the main unit’s. Additionally, notifications are now more visible, making the device more user-friendly and efficient under various conditions.
  • Non-Destructive Testing: Accurately measures gas concentration without compromising the integrity of IGUs, allowing all units to be delivered in perfect condition, eliminating the need for random sample destruction.
  • Cost Efficiency: The replaceable measuring head allows for calibration of just the head, reducing maintenance costs and downtime. Improved quality control also minimizes errors, reducing overall production expenses.
  • Versatile and Expanded Measurement Capabilities: Suitable for both double and triple-glazed IGUs, with added functionality to measure single pane thickness. This flexibility enables more comprehensive testing, including accurate measurements of glass and cavity thickness. The average result counter feature automatically calculates and displays the average of multiple measurements, simplifying quality control processes.
  • Works Through Coatings and Lamination: Capable of measuring through most coatings and laminated glass units, ensuring flexibility and compatibility with various IGU compositions.
  • Portability and User-Friendly Design: Compact and portable, with an intuitive interface and wireless connectivity, making it ideal for use in production facilities, at construction sites, or during post-installation inspections.

Technical Advancements

Sparklike Laser Portable 2.2 utilizes Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) technology, ensuring precise measurement of oxygen levels, which directly correlates to the accurate calculation of argon, krypton, or other insulating gases in the IG unit. This device can effectively measure through most coatings and laminated double and triple glasses, providing flexibility and efficiency in measuring IG units of varying compositions and sizes.
