An innovative photovoltaic façade project has been developed in the Netherlands, integrating high-performance glass with 5BB monocrystalline technology.

The system features large-format panels measuring up to 3829 × 1994 mm, incorporating a double-glazed chamber with 12 mm argon gas filling and a total thickness of 60 mm. Each unit reaches a weight of 630 kg. The intervention is part of the extension of the Geelen Counterflow headquarters in Haelen, designed by Architecten en Bouwmeesters.

This office building has received international recognition for its outstanding sustainability performance, achieving a five-star BREEAM NL certification with an exceptional score of 99.94%, positioning it among the most sustainable office buildings in the world.

It is an architectural solution that combines design, energy efficiency, and integrated photovoltaic generation within the façade, adding both aesthetic and functional value to contemporary architecture.

In this context, the modules were developed by Onyx Solar Energy and laminated with EVALAM UC, a high-performance EVA encapsulant for photovoltaic and BIPV applications. EVALAM UC ensures thermal stability during demanding lamination processes, high light transmission, excellent adhesion and module durability, as well as reduced production defects and enhanced reliability, thereby supporting advanced materials that enable the next generation of integrated solar solutions.
