Based on our positive experience with the first Glaston MULTI’ARRISSER for glass edge arrissing, we chose to invest in a second machine to meet the needs of our growing business,” says Paul Hayward, Managing Director of Cwmtillery Glass Centre (CGC) in Ebbw Vale, South Wales, UK.

Same high-volume, high-quality arrissing in half the time

Established in 1996 by Paul and Cerianne Hayward, CGC has expanded from a modest workshop into a 120,000 m² custom-built facility. Today, the company manufactures double and triple insulating glass units (IGUs) as well as toughened, laminated and decorative glass.

The company is a highly regarded, quality-driven supplier to window manufacturers across the UK.

Repeat investment driven by performance and efficiency

CGC’s partnership with Glaston began in 2003 with sealing robots, which were then supplied under the former Bystronic glass brand. This was followed by further investments in cutting tables, four complete insulating glass lines with gas presses and speed sealers, butyl extruders and desiccant fillers. In 2024, the company introduced its first arrissing equipment.

The new MULTI’ARRISSER, commissioned in April 2026, delivers consistent, high-quality glass – piece after piece – regardless of the operator.

The machine uses the same high-quality cup wheels across all functions and glass thicknesses, eliminating the need for tool changes when processing different glass types. This significantly reduces downtime and minimizes operator intervention.

“Thanks to the consistent high quality and operational speed, our arrissing processes now take half the time and require half the staff,” says Hayward.

“The MULTI’ARRISSER can arris 1 m x 1 m glass plates in just over 14 seconds. It handles shapes and formats, performs edge grinding and can even carry out corner dubbing – all using the same cup wheels,” he adds.

In addition, the latest MULTI’ARRISSER is equipped with a laser marking system that etches production codes or company logos without damaging the glass coating.

Quick, smooth and efficient collaboration

CGC originally chose Glaston for the quality of its machinery, its UK-based service team and the availability of reliable spare parts.

“Over the years, we have come to really appreciate Glaston’s market-leading technology, robust and reliable equipment, and excellent customer support,” says Paul Hayward. “I have always found the Glaston UK team to be quick, responsive and efficient. With this latest project, their local support was invaluable.”
