Watch the AT online panel discussion, in partnership with Kuraray, on avoiding risk when specifying structural glass.

In recent years, the construction market has seen a disturbing rise in counterfeit glazing products that falsely claim to match the properties and performance capabilities of structural safety glass. Architecture Today, in partnership with Kuraray, investigated the potential catastrophic risks associated with the incorrect specification of structural glass, assembling an expert panel to address this important issue.

Chaired by Architecture Today Editor Isabel Allen, the panel comprised Dr Dominic Yu, Principal at Alpha Consulting; Graham Coult, Technical Director at Eckersley O’Callaghan; Tali Mejicovsky, Associate Principal, Façade Engineering and Building Physics at Arup; Dr Stephen J Bennison, Technical Fellow, Advanced Interlayer Solutions Division at Kuraray America Inc; and Hamid Vossoughi, Senior Principal, Building Sciences at WSP.

The discussion, which took place in conjunction with the 25-year anniversary of SentryGlas®, explored the compelling physical evidence, test results, incompatibility issues, and the risks associated with inferior performance.
