Tempered Glass Contributes to Energy Savings in Buildings

Date: 21 May 2014

In response to a public consultation on progress towards the future development of energy efficiency made by European Commission, Glass for Europe is calling on the EU to prioritize energy savings in buildings by setting up a series of targets and policy for build environment.

The build environment accounts for the biggest share of the EU overall energy consumption and offers the single most important potential to realize massive energy savings. So, giving a priority to saving the huge amounts of energy needlessly wasted in inefficient buildings is of great significance for the realization of the energy savings goal.

In fact, not only Europe, some other countries and areas also face the problems of wasting of resources. Especially in China, alongside the rapid expansion of building industry, excessive consumption of resources has become a growing problem to be concerned.

Against this background, finding some durable and environmental building materials is a good way to extend its lifespan and save energy. As one kind of common building materials, glass plays an important role in build environment. Especially tempered glass, which is more safe and unbreakable after tempered by glass tempering furnace, is much more welcomed by constructors to be used in buildings compared with traditional glass.

Building industry is a big part in social economy and wasting of resources is a severe problem that need all people's attention. How to heighten people's environmental awareness and develop new environmental protection materials are key points to solve the problem. Tempered glass, the ideal creation of human intelligence, will continuously make contributions to building industry in coming days.
