Glaston RC350 boosts productivity with multiple innovations

Date: 25 October 2012

Helsinki, 2012-10-23 13:35 CEST (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- To boost production capacity and allow a wide glass application capability, the new Glaston RC350™ tempering furnace with the Vortex Plus™ or Vortex Pro™ convection system offers an impressive tempering solution.

It assures both energy efficiency and ease of use for high quality production.

RC350™ greatly minimizes energy consumption in the heating process thanks to its low convection compressor usage and efficient, controllable convection nozzle design, which create a highly effective airflow with a light touch of air. In addition to high yield, RC350™ enables a wide production capability.

The standard Vortex Plus™ or optional Vortex Pro™ convection system forms the cornerstone of RC350™, providing an impressive way to temper a wide range of quality glass easily. Vortex Plus™ decreases energy consumption and minimizes the need for external convection. Vortex Pro™ brings the use of compressed air to an absolute minimum; the convection follows the glass and targets the heat only where and when needed. Existing machines can widen their application range with a Vortex Pro™ upgrade.

“Vortex Plus™ provides remarkably precise convection profiling and uniform heat transfer by controlling the convection nozzles in groups. Vortex Pro™ lifts the controllability to a level that has not been possible until now. It controls each convection nozzle independently, enabling thermal profiles to be adjusted to any pattern. Both systems are excellent tools for all temperable Low-E coatings,” says Juha Liettyä, SVP Glaston Heat Treatment.

Other RC350™ design innovations include the intelligent quench solution and the blower motor, equipped with a variable frequency drive (VFD), which further lead to decreased energy consumption.
