At glasstec 2026, LiSEC will present a complete insulating glass line with a focus on thermoplastic and rigid spacers, as well as innovative solutions for secondary sealing.

This year, LiSEC will be presenting itself at glasstec in Düsseldorf under the motto “65 years of experience – shaping the future” as an all.in.one:solutions provider for the global flat glass processing industry. One of the systems that will be demonstrated live at the exhibition booth is the LiSEC TPA insulating glass line. Albert Haider, Head of Product Management Insulating Glass at LiSEC, has many years of experience in insulating glass production and shares his first insights into this line in the following interview.

Mr Haider, what will LiSEC be exhibiting this year at glasstec in Düsseldorf in the field of insulating glass production?

Albert Haider: At this year’s glasstec, LiSEC will showcase a complete insulating glass line featuring key highlights in the areas of the TPA applicator for the production of insulating glass units with thermoplastic spacers, the placement of rigid spacers, and secondary sealing.

In addition to upgrades to long-established machine types, several new LiSEC developments in the field of insulating glass production will make their debut, including the new FSI-A frame setting station and the newly developed TPA-B applicator.

The line is complemented by intelligent process monitoring and quality assurance functions that ensure consistently high product quality.

The insulating glass line is ultimately unloaded automatically by a robot, which transfers the finished insulating glass units to the fully automated LiSEC IG-Sort curing and sorting system.

Why is LiSEC bringing exactly these machines to glasstec?

Albert Haider: As a clear market trend towards thermoplastic spacers has emerged over recent years, LiSEC is launching a consistently enhanced new generation of the TPA applicator with extended functionality.

TPA technology stands for high-quality, durable and visually appealing product quality. One of LiSEC’s key unique selling points is the corner closing system, where a gas-tight, homogeneous connection between the start and end points of the application is created using a dedicated closing unit.

Combined with the innovative CleanCorner system of the SRP-A sealing system, the high standards for corner formation are met both by the primary seal (TPA) and the secondary seal (SRP-A).

The insulating glass line presented at the trade fair is rounded off by intuitive user interfaces and a noticeably improved user experience based on a modern, future-proof software architecture.

Since when has development been underway for this line, and which technical aspects received particular attention?

Albert Haider: LiSEC’s first thermoplastic spacer applicator was launched in 2015. Since then, continuous improvements and optimisations have been implemented until a comprehensive redevelopment project was initiated in 2024.

One focus area was the optimisation of machine reliability and system availability. Particularly when processing sealants used in insulating glass production, the durability and reliability of seals, rotary joints and dispensing systems play a crucial role.

To simplify line operation and ensure consistently high insulating glass quality, LiSEC relies on self-regulating processes and AI-supported process monitoring systems. Automated product quality inspections enable immediate responses to deviations, reducing their impact and ensuring that only high-quality insulating glass units leave the factory.

In brief: What are the three key advantages of this insulating glass line?

Albert Haider:

  1. The new LiSEC TPA-B applicator impresses with outstanding process stability and superior application quality. Together with the corner sealing unit, it creates a visually appealing spacer surface.
  2. The corner quality of the sealed units has been significantly improved through CleanCorner technology, eliminating the need for manual rework. This is particularly important for automated line unloading.
  3. Intelligent process monitoring and quality assurance systems enable continuous monitoring of product quality. Deviations are detected immediately, allowing corrective measures to be taken at once.

Which future trends can be addressed with the LiSEC TPA Line?

Albert Haider: The high degree of automation of this insulating glass line opens up prospects for unmanned production. Manual and repetitive tasks are increasingly being automated to counter labour shortages and enhance process stability.

Through continuous process monitoring and the use of AI-supported camera systems, product quality is monitored without interruption. Consistently high quality is a decisive competitive factor in the production of insulating glass.

One particular challenge for thermoplastic spacers has historically been the production of spacer widths exceeding 20 mm. In response to growing demand, LiSEC has developed a solution with this line for the application of extra-wide spacers.
