Experienced glass industry professional to support product licensees.

Vitro Architectural Glass announced that it has hired William Davis as productivity manager and technical services engineer in support of the company’s Intercept® stainless steel spacer system technology.

Davis, who previously worked for 11 years in glass research and development for PPG Industries in Pittsburgh, where he was part of the team that developed Intercept, will conduct on-site audits of licensee facilities and provide direct feedback on ways to help them improve productivity, product quality and efficiencies.

“Bill has worked with several material suppliers in the industry,” said Bradley Boone, market segment manager, Vitro Architectural Glass. “His contributions on the early development of Intercept spacer technology will be very beneficial as we look to enhance Vitro’s processes and operations. His knowledge base will serve him, and our licensees, well in the quest for continuous process improvement.”

In addition to his experience at PPG, Davis was the inside sales manager for ABEL Pumps in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, and held engineering positions at Sika Corp., of Lyndhurst, New Jersey.

Davis holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Point Park University in Pittsburgh.

Developed by PPG, the Intercept spacer system, which is constructed with tin-plated steel or stainless steel rather than traditional metal or foam because of its strength, durability and thermal performance, has been fabricated into more than 600 million windows in Europe and North America.
