Some 50 VDMA member companies presented their innovations, products and services at this year’s glasstec in Düsseldorf. Overall, the exhibitors are extremely pleased with how the trade fair went.

Many high-level specialist discussions that look likely to lead to orders were held with visitors to the fair. Machine manufacturers were clearly focused on the issues of digitisation and networked production. This was also confirmed by Forum Glass Technology Chairman Egbert Wenninger. “Digitisation has reached the glass industry,” he said. “Many exhibitors are working intensively at developing future-proof products. And they showcased their solutions at their stands.”

The technology conference ‘Function Meets Glass’ was held at the CCD Ost on Monday 22 October. The conference centred on functional glass and areas of application, cutting techniques for complex surfaces, and new coatings. The talks given at the conference were very well received by the hundred or so attendees. The concept underlying the event was therefore a complete success.

The ‘Technology by VDMA’ symposium, which took place on Wednesday 24 October, was devoted entirely to the issue of digitisation in glass production. The participants in the conference came from the container and flat-glass production industry as well as from flat-glass processing.

On average, the attendance levels at the 11 lectures were good to very good. Visitors subsequently also had an opportunity to view the presented products and applications live at the relevant stands. “We addressed the current discussions and selected the right topics at the right time,” confirmed Forum Glass Technology Deputy Chairman Siegfried Glaser.
