Thermoseal Group supersizes and expands its fleet

Date: 4 June 2012

Due to the success of Thermobar warm edge spacer tube and the increasing number of orders for insulated glass components, Thermoseal Group has increased its fleet with the addition of 7½ tonne,12 tonne and 18 tonne trucks to maximise delivery capacity.

As the UK’s leading supplier of double-glazing machinery and consumables, Thermoseal Group prides itself on its contract-winning customer service and has made a commitment to continually review and maximise its service standards.

The Group’s operations manager Geoff Busby comments: “The market is changing and so our delivery service has to adapt to the changes in our customers purchasing behaviour. Many of our customers are now bulk-buying stillages of spacer bar and heavier products which means that we’ve had to increase the carrying capacity of our vehicles on certain delivery routes. The idea is that whilst expanding the fleet we also replace smaller trucks with larger vehicles to enable drivers to transport longer lengths of spacer bar and heavier loads.

Our expanding fleet gives us the flexibility to service the delivery requirements of larger customers while ensuring that we can meet our delivery commitments to customers with lighter and less bulky orders.

Like the rest of the fleet, the new trucks have a satellite navigation system with an up-to-the-minute traffic alert feature to improve the speed and reliability of the Groups door-to-door delivery service.  18 tonne trucks also have a sleeper cabin to give drivers a resting place when making long-haul journeys.”
