The use of thin and ultra-thin glass in the production of triple insulating glass units (IGUs) continues to gain momentum across the market. Forel’s latest video showcases an advanced manufacturing technique that integrates a flexible spacer with a thin glass center pane.
The focus is on a faster, fully automated production process, made possible by a spacer applicator featuring an automatic reel changeover system and a final corner closing device, ensuring maximum efficiency and precision in spacer placement.
Enhanced by dedicated software, this solution enables the production of “triple thin” IGUs with additional options such as automatic muntin/Georgian bar slit incision for easy grid mounting and the ability to process various glass shapes for increased flexibility.
A specially configured Coupling Press assembles the triple unit with a single cavity, allowing the sealing robot to complete the unit in one pass.
This innovative system delivers superior thermal and acoustic performance while maintaining nearly the same weight and overall dimensions as a standard double-glazed unit. The “thin triple” configuration is ideal for residential new builds and replacement glazing projects, often requiring no major changes to existing window profiles or hardware.
