The site is one of the most important European production facilities for amber glass packaging and supplies customers primarily in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, as well as selected applications in the food, beverage and spirits sectors.
As part of this extensive project, HORN is responsible for the engineering and execution of the complete furnace rebuild.
The construction work for this project began on August 5, 2026 with the glass drain. The cold repair of the furnace is planned over a period of 65 days, with production expected to resume in October 2026.
The modernization includes a complete rebuild of the glass melting furnace, including forehearths and regenerators. The new end-fired furnace features an increased melting area and doubled electrical boosting capacity. These improvements will enhance both production capacity and energy efficiency while reducing specific CO₂ emissions per tonne of glass melted.
