Glass Systems Group has announced the appointment of Steve Laing to manage the Scotland and North of England area.

Glass Systems Group, already the largest producer of IG units in the UK, with 6 plants in England, Scotland and Wales, has announced the appointment of Steve Laing to manage the Scotland and North of England area.

Glass Systems GroupSteve and his team of 3 Area Sales Managers will be selling Glass Systems’ IG units into Scotland and also the North of England, commencing in the counties of Northumberland, Durham, and Cumbria.

The second phase of Glass Systems’ business development strategy takes Steve and his team into the areas of Lancashire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

John Wood, Group Managing Director, says “It is a very exciting time for us, particularly since purchasing Pilkington’s domestic IGU factories plus the Cervoglasstm roof glass brand and assets. We are now producing 80,000 IG units per week, with nearly 5,000 conservatory roof units. We have a clear plan for growth and have invested in a new high speed bystronic robot for our Glass Systems AG plant, Barnsley, and a new line with tandem gas press line for our Glass Systems Direct plant, in Pontyclun, South Wales later this year. On top of this investment we have also ordered a second IG line to produce our successful Climate brand roof glass products.”

John Wood concludes “This investment strategy will help us achieve our production plan of around 100,000 IG units per week in the near future, further cementing our status as Number One in the UK and bringing further security of employment to around 1,000 employees. These are indeed very exciting times for everyone associated with Glass Systems Group”.
