Three coated glass product categories have been reclassified from NACE code 23.11 (“Manufacture of flat glass”) to NACE code 23.12 (“Shaping and processing of flat glass”). The changes are as follows:
- 23.11.12.12 becomes 23.12.14.10 – Non-wired sheets, of float, surface ground or polished glass, having a non-reflecting layer
- 23.11.12.14 becomes 23.12.14.11 – Non-wired sheets, of float, surface ground or polished glass, having an absorbent or reflective layer, of a thickness ≤ 3,5 mm
- 23.11.12.17 becomes 23.12.14.12 – Non-wired sheets, of float, surface ground or polished glass, having an absorbent or reflecting layer, not otherwise worked, of a thickness > 3,5 mm
Additional code changes include:
- Multiple-walled insulating units of glass: 23.12.13.30 becomes 23.12.20.10
- Glass mirrors, whether or not framed: from 23.12.13.90 becomes 23.12.13.00
According to discussions with the European Commission, the reclassification aims to better align PRODCOM product codes with industry activities and reduce double counting in production statistics.
All industry stakeholders need to carefully review their production and to report it according to the new codes for all that was produced since 1 January 2026. This is particularly important since PRODCOM codes are the product classification codes used by Eurostat and all national statistics authorities to collect and publish industrial production statistics across the European Union.
