Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo; President & COO: Kazuhiko Ishimura) has started negotiation to increase the price of automotive glass.

Due to the sharp price increase of fuel and raw material including heavy oil over a short period of time, costs related to automotive glass manufacturing have rapidly increased. Costs of almost all raw materials including raw glass and interlayer vinyl which are the main raw materials for producing automotive glass are increasing. Energy cost to operate automotive glass production processes and supply chain cost (including logistics) are increasing as well.

The cost increase can no longer be absorbed only by internal efforts, and it is severely impacting automotive business profitability like never before.

Therefore, the Company has decided to increase its price by around 10%. Asahi Glass has started individual negotiations with its customers, and will work to correct the price for automotive glass including aftermarket replacement glass.
