Ahlström Collective Impact (ACI), a responsibility initiative for companies and foundations within the Ahlström Network, has decided to make an investment of 600,000 € into UNICEF’s Global Education Program.

Launched in August 2020, Ahlström Collective Impact is committed to creating change by investing in a better future for children in joint partnership with UNICEF Finland. Glaston is one of the members of the initiative.

Initiated by the Eva Ahlström Foundation, Ahlström Collective Impact is a new and unique kind of co-operation model that joins together companies and foundations in the Ahlström Network. In joint partnership with UNICEF Finland, the initiative is designed for targeted strategic investments that support the realization of selected United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

For 2021, Ahlström Collective Impact has selected the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) number 4. Quality education, 5. Gender equality and 17. Partnerships for the goals. In order to support the goals for quality education, ACI has decided to direct its investment of 600 000 euro to UNICEF’s Global Education Program.

“Last year Ahlström Collective Impact focused on supporting the COVID-19 crisis aid to children in order to support their wellbeing and health during the pandemic. Disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has also exacerbated the learning crisis and widened the gaps in access to quality education. In order to safeguard the children´s future, we must safeguard their education,” says Päivi Lindqvist, CFO at Glaston Corporation, who leads the Glaston-wide strategic initiative focusing on elevating sustainability and continuous improvement.

To address the learning crisis, UNICEF strives to ensure that every student, in low- and middle-income countries in particular, gains a solid foundation in basic reading and mathematics – skills that are the foundation for all learning throughout childhood and beyond.

Stronger together

Ahlström Collective Impact, with foundations and private and public companies within its network, aims to spark change by joining forces with the vision of a better world for future generations.  Initiated by the Eva Ahlström Foundation, the initiative joins together the foundation and the Ahlström Network companies Ahlström Capital, Ahlstrom-Munksjö, Antti Ahlström Perilliset, Destia, Glaston, Suominen, Enics and Walter Ahlström Foundation.

“At Glaston, we are strongly committed to sustainability, which is defined as a strategic focus area in our revised strategy launched in August 2021. By joining forces and working together within the network together with UNICEF Finland we can make a difference and contribute to driving change for children,” says Päivi Lindqvist.
