Interview to Carlos Fernández, Satecris S.L. manager
How did your business relationship with Turomas begin?
Our relationship began in 2004 as a technical service and, around 2016, we started the commercial service.
What did the Best Agent of the Year award mean to you?
A very great satisfaction for the work done.
How has your relationship with Turomas been so far?
We have an exceptional relationship based on mutual trust.
Any anecdote you remember especially?
After so many years there are many that I could count on, but I’ll keep the first visit to Turomas. When I left the factory I said to myself: “I have to work for this company”.
What qualities do you think a good agent should have?
The characteristics that define a good agent are: product knowledge, determination and honesty.
What do customers think about Turomas?
Customers think that Turomas is a great company, a manufacturer of machinery with exceptional quality. It is also a brand that differs by the good treatment and attention given at all times.
On Saturday 27 July, in Rubielos de Mora, you experienced the first exhibition on the expansive plan of Turomas. What do you think?
We think it is a great project that will position Turomas as a world leader in the manufacture of cutting tables and loading systems for the glass industry.
What are the future challenges facing Satecris?
Continue working to maintain confidence in the quality of the Turomas brand and that customers continue to choose it as the first choice over others.

Alumni as best Distributor 2018
Within each new edition of International Networks!, Turomas rewards the work of the best distributor of the previous year. In the third edition, held on Saturday 27 July, the award went to the Romanian company Alumni.
After dinner in the medieval castle of Mora de Rubielos, Radu Uciulei and Cristina Arad, owners and directors of Alumni, received the award from the vice-president of Turomas, Álvaro Tomás.
Alumni is a family business that started fourteen years ago in Brasov, Pennsylvania. Currently, its activity extends to Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova, offering machinery and equipment solutions for insulating glass and flat glass.
In the following interview, Cristina Arad talks about what the award has meant to them, about the present and future of the glass sector and about the relationship with Turomas.
Interview with Radu Ciulei and Cristina Arad, Alumni owners
How did your business relationship with Turomas begin?
Our story debuted during Vitrum in 2015 when we approached Turomas asking them to become their distributor in Romania. We took the first step.
From Alumni portfolio of machines, a serious partner was missing when it came to glass cutting. At the time, Romania was eager for new players, new technology, alternative professional solutions on the side of glass processing equipment.
What does the recognition of the Best Distributor of the year mean for you?
This came really unexpected, I was very pleased to hear we are on top… and then I realized we have a partner who recognizes our work, well, this was the next big thing. This recognition means a lot for all our team, because every project we close it’s a team work. Being dedicated and passionate about glass, this is a part of who we are, it makes us proud and enthusiastic. It also challenges us to keep up the same rhythm. Thank you!
What does Turomas Alumni value the most?
Turomas is the near future in glass cutting around the world. Meeting Alvaro and his team made pretty clear for us that this is a boat where we want to be in. They are young, bright, talented, bold, the next generation that will bring things forward. Attitude determines success “whether you think you can, or you think you can’t—you’re right” (Henry Ford). I guess Turomas believes they can.
And the customers, what do they appreciate most about Turomas?
Romanian market is a pretty conservative one, so we are happy we had a good start together. Turomas is the challenger, the last player to enter the game here, it takes more time to become fully adopted. Alumni fights hard to position Turomas at its real value and to build trust. We operate with the technological advantages, a lot of work and time. At the end of the day, the market perception is a cumulus of technology and accountability, innovation and fresh approach.
How do you see the present and future of the sector?
Our customers invest further in glass business, it seems the future looks pretty bright for many of them. For sure, European financing programs were a huge benefit for a lot of companies, and another major reason is the high level of exporting windows, doors and insulated glass units.
There is this positive trust that our economy will grow in spite of anachronic corrupted political class, due to the work of an entrepreneur generation that grew business in all industries.
On Saturday 27 July, in Rubielos de Mora, you got to know first-hand the Turomas expansion plan. What do you think?
We were proud to be present in Rubielos, it was an inspiring event. Turomas plans are ambitious, but feasible. Step by step, with hard work, intelligence and care, they will become reality. A reality that we would like to be part of, as we are part of its progress.
