- Manufacturer of high-quality solar modules meets with strong interest at the PV Expo in Tokyo- Outstanding reputation of German engineering enables company to complete a strong brand launch in JapanSCHOTT Solar AG has gotten off to an excellent start in the Japanese market.

The high-quality German manufacturer’s participation in the PV Expo trade fair in Tokyo from February 29 – March 2 that generated a lot of attention clearly shows how German engineering still meets with great interest in the Land of the Rising Sun. The company scored a lot of points in Tokyo especially with its flagship product, the SCHOTT PERFORM POLY 245 solar module. SCHOTT Solar will be concentrating on the market segment “medium-sized solar systems for industrial roofs” initially and has already started to ship products in Japan. SCHOTT Solar is a subsidiary of the SCHOTT Group, a company that has been operating in Japan for 46 years through its SCHOTT Nippon, NEC-SCHOTT and SCHOTT Moritex divisions, among others.

“Experts expect Japan to rank among the six leading nations when it comes to the growth of photovoltaics in the years to come,” explains Swantje Oldoerp, head of Sales for Asia at SCHOTT Solar. “Thanks to our high-quality solar modules and more than 50 years of experience in the PV market, we are clearly the right partner when it comes to meeting Japan’s high demand for quality and service.”

“The new feed-in tariff in Japan will help to permanently bring about a change in energy,” adds Airi Yukawa, President SCHOTT Nippon K.K. “Here, we have just the right solutions to offer that deliver both high performance and stability.“

SCHOTT Solar stands for quality and durability – tested independently

The high-quality SCHOTT PERFORM POLY 245 module that SCHOTT Solar unveiled at the PV Expo is quite interesting due to its exceptionally high nominal output. SCHOTT Solar offers a linear performance warranty of 25 years on this polycrystalline glass-foil module that guarantees high electricity yields for those who purchase solar systems. SCHOTT Solar can be sure of the performance of these modules for two reasons: on the one hand, the company has already been actively involved in solar technology since 1958 and the experience it has gained over decades flows into its products. On the other, SCHOTT Solar subjects all of its modules to extensive quality tests that are generally twice as stringent as the international IEC standard calls for.

Furthermore, both its quality and performance have already been confirmed by independent institutes many times over. In a performance measurement performed by the Fraunhofer Institute, solar modules from SCHOTT Solar delivered over 90% of their original rated performance on average even after 26 years. The SCHOTT PERFORM POLY, in particular, has several awards to show for itself: for instance, the German consumer magazine “Ökotest” (edition 4/2010) tested a total of 15 solar modules from German and foreign manufacturers for their performance. SCHOTT Solar received the highest possible score of “Very Good.” The German Agricultural Society (DLG) also confirmed the high standard of quality at SCHOTT Solar just last year. Solar modules from SCHOTT Solar passed the test and are thus suited for use in agricultural environments. In TÜV Rheinland’s Energy Yield Test 2010, on the other hand, the SCHOTT PERFORM POLY even came in first place. The results underscore that SCHOTT modules remain highly reliable even during sustained use.
