Detroit Athletic Club

The historic Detroit Athletic Club has been a fixture of the city for more than 100 years. Designed by Albert Kahn in 1915, renovations to the building required a respect for the past, but an eye towards the future.

The Club sought to add an exterior atrium that would maintain the original beauty of the building while creating a fully-sealed, high-design showpiece.

They needed a trusted partner with the technical capabilities to fulfill the project and a design approach worthy of the beloved building.

Glass & Mirror Craft fabricated a point-supported low-iron glass curtain wall for maximum transparency that also eliminated as many fittings as possible.

Advanced technology and carefully managed thickness calculations allowed for creation of seamless, oversized 20-foot walls and clean 90 degree corners, enveloping visitors in stunning floor-to-ceiling glass.

Cuda Metals by Glass & Mirror Craft developed custom components for the curtain wall’s point support system, along with the structure surrounding the vestibule’s revolving door.

Glass & Mirror Craft provided a one-stop, expert experience, creating a comfortable barrier from the weather and a stunning first impression for Club guests.
