Vitro Architectural Glass is pleased to announce that BirdSmart® Bird Safe Glass has been named a winner in the 2026 Environment+Energy Leader Awards.

The annual program recognizes companies delivering measurable progress in energy management, environmental performance and sustainability. Winners span categories including product innovation, project implementation, startup advancement and organizational leadership.

BirdSmart® Bird Safe Glass by Vitro features first-surface, laser-etched dot patterns with a Solarban® solar control, low-e coating on the second surface, helping deter bird collisions while delivering proven thermal performance.

Manufactured using a laser etching process, a greener way to prevent bird strikes, BirdSmart® glass can be applied to clear glass, Starphire Ultra-Clear® or Acuity® low-iron glasses and tinted glasses and is compatible with all Solarban® glass coatings by Vitro on the second surface.

BirdSmart® glass complies with existing and emerging building codes and its aesthetics and performance benefits have no impact on Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) or Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC). Extensive evaluations have also demonstrated that BirdSmart® glass does not impact the performance of Solarban® low-e coatings.

Both BirdSmart® glass and Solarban® glass are manufactured at Vitro’s Wichita Falls, Texas, facility, ensuring a streamlined supply chain and allowing for direct shipping. Perfect for both small and large projects, BirdSmart® glass is available in sizes up to Titan™ glass (130x240 inches) and can be ordered in sizes as small as one pack. BirdSmart® glass also can be manufactured without a low-e coating.
