World's largest DSC façade commissioned

A convention centre for the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) - where dye solar cell (DSC) technology has its origins - will include a glass façade featuring 300 sq m of integrated cells.The solar glass will be installed during construction in September-October 2013.

The project will exploit the efforts of a range of Swiss partners, including Lausanne-based architect firm Richter-Dahl Rocha & Associates, glass and façade specialists as well as DSC developer and producer Solaronix.

Romande Energie, the main electricity provider for the French-speaking part of Switzerland, is leading the project and financing the cost of the DSC façade, which costs more than conventional decorative glass.
