UBLO is a company that makes minimalist windows. We want to rethink ventilation through glass.
So, instead of using an openable frame or hardware, we want to simplify by using a precut aperture in glass and a lid to open and close.
To open and close, normally, you have an openable frame. But instead, we have a hole in the glass.
Our basic lid is transparent. And you can close, open and hang it. If needed, you can also use the insect filter. Plus, we have various lid designs. For instance, a planter lid or special design lids made by craft designers using different materials.
For triple glazing, we use an aerogel-insulated lid to meet high thermal performance. This is suitable, for example, for Finland, where winter is very cold.
Six years ago, we were here at GPD to present our concept idea with a prototype. Since then, we have evolved our product considerably. Back then, we had to install from the outside with a silicone sealant. Now, we have a dry installation from inside only, which is much simpler. And the operation method became much more user friendly as well.
We also commercialized. At first, I wasn’t really aware of all the efforts needed in marketing and sales. I thought a good product would sell naturally. But six years was also the time for me to learn that it doesn’t work this way. A lot of effort is needed for targeting the market, understanding customers and then evolving our product from that.
So little by little, we gained a reputation in Korea. And last year, we passed the European window performance test and came back to Finland. We came back because our solution is very suitable for cold climate regions. Nordic countries are perfect for us. And we are very happy to be back.
Today, we want to partner with local glass processors and window makers who can make perforated IGUs suitable for our solution. I know that GPD is a perfect place to meet glass experts from all over the world who can help us. And I think I can learn from them as well. So I’m very happy meeting people here.
