The four runners-up prizes, the Training and Employment Award, the Sustainable SME Award, the Innovation and Digitalisation Award and the Internationalisation Award went to Teruel Solar, Agrocultivate, MisterQ and Friends and Doñate Trufas respectively.
Jose Luis Escriche, Director of Operations at TUROMAS, received the award from Ana Sanz, Director General of SMEs and the Self-Employed at the Government of Aragon, and Javier Ania Puertolas, Head of Business at Banco Santander in Aragon.
He emphasised that this award ‘not only recognises what we are today, but also everything we have built over more than 40 years of history in the flat glass industry’. Jose Luis Escriche extended his gratitude to all the institutions, the business community of the province and, especially, his team of more than 100 professionals who ‘represent the true driving force behind the company’.
High-tech industry in rural areas
Founded and located in Rubielos de Mora, TUROMAS has demonstrated that innovation and advanced industry can be developed in a rural environment. From this small town in Teruel, the company designs and manufactures intelligent solutions for the storage, loading and cutting of flat glass, which are now used in more than 100 countries.
More than 66% of its turnover comes from foreign markets and it has its own branch in Mexico, as well as a consolidated presence in South America and Europe.
Commitment to training and local talent
One of TUROMAS’ strategic pillars is its support for technical training in the region. The company collaborates with educational centres, takes on students for work experience, promotes dual training programmes and organises educational visits to bring young people closer to the industry.
‘The objective is clear: to generate opportunities for local talent to develop professionally without having to leave their homeland,’ the company emphasised.
Innovation, sustainability and social responsibility
The company also highlighted its ongoing commitment to innovation, with investments in new patents, technological developments and internal digitisation processes.
In terms of sustainability, TUROMAS continues to make progress in the use of renewable energies, material recycling and more efficient processes.
In addition, it maintains a strong social commitment by collaborating with organisations such as ATADI, the Red Cross, the Spanish Association Against Cancer and charitable initiatives such as La Noche Más Mágica (The Most Magical Night).
A tribute to the region
TUROMAS concluded that this award represents ‘recognition of collective work and a way of understanding the company based on quality, innovation and commitment to the environment’.
The company reaffirms its willingness to continue contributing to the economic and social development of Teruel and its rural environment.
