BirdSmart® Bird Safe Glass by Vitro helps architects meet bird-friendly design goals without compromising aesthetics or performance. Featuring first-surface, laser-etched dot patterns paired with a Solarban® solar control, low-e coating on the second surface, BirdSmart® glass is engineered to help deter bird collisions while delivering the solar control, daylighting and thermal performance expected from today's high-performance glazing systems.
Available on clear glass, Starphire Ultra-Clear® glass and Acuity® low-iron glasses, and select tinted glass products by Vitro, BirdSmart® glass can be combined with any Solarban® low-e coating, allowing architects to achieve a wide range of aesthetic and performance objectives from a single source.
BirdSmart® glass helps support compliance with existing and emerging bird-safe building requirements. Extensive testing has shown that BirdSmart® glass does not impact the performance of Solarban® low-e coatings and has no effect on visible light transmittance (VLT) or solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC). Both BirdSmart® glass and Solarban® glass are manufactured at Vitro's Wichita Falls, Texas, facility ensuring an efficient supply chain.
Perfect for both small and large projects, BirdSmart® glass is available in sizes up to Titan™ glass (130x240 inches) and can be ordered in quantities as small as one pack. BirdSmart® glass also can be manufactured without a low-e coating.
