The unique staircase structure made of concrete and glass, which we developed in cooperation with ABT, was awarded with the Dutch Betonprijs 2017.

This project was able to beat the other 24 projects in the category “construction technology”. This “ultraflat hybrid staircase illustrates the possibilities of self-compacting, high-strength concrete. With a concrete thickness of approximately 5 cm, the staircase traverses a distance of almost 6 m.

An elegant joint with the glass balustrade that strengthens the overall construction and ensures an effective constructive and esthetic interaction of concrete and glass. According to the jury, there is a simplicity and craftsmanship to this joint and derives its beauty from it.

The Betonprijs, which is being supported by the Dutch ministry and environment, is being awarded every 2 years. The Betonprijs has 8 categories, that is to say bridges and viaducts, water engineering, living, construction, implementation, concrete technology, restauration/ repair and construction.
