Navigating the regulation minefield is high on the agenda at this year’s Glazing Summit, which takes place on Thursday, October 21 at Edgbaston Stadium and Conference Centre, Birmingham.

The one-day, no-nonsense conference for industry leaders and business owners across the glass and glazing industry will discuss the biggest issues with a combination of debates, discussions, and keynotes.

David Borland, Senior Technical Officer at the GGF with expertise in building regulations, environmental and energy ratings, and compliance standards, will cut through the noise and provide attendees with the facts they really need for a keynote on ‘The Regulation Minefield: What the Industry Must Know.’

Andrew Scott, Glazing Summit founder, said: “Legislation is driving change across the industry, from conformity marking and U-value changes to hotly debated issues around product substitution.

“The ramifications of Approved Document L and Document F are also potentially huge, with the forthcoming revisions to the Building Regs a potential disaster for the aluminium industry.

“There are a lot of aluminium products which, as it stands, only just scrape in under Part L energy requirements and manufacturers of less-energy-efficient systems could find themselves locked out of the market.

“And following several years of consultations and publication of the interim uplift to Approved Document F due at the end of this year, how background ventilation can be delivered will be a huge talking point as the options for installers are limited.”

With the aftermath of Grenfell still in the minds of the glazing industry, David will also discuss fire safety and building regulations.

More than 300 leaders from across the industry are set to attend the Glazing Summit.
