Profile 22 Flush Tilt and Turn windows have been used in the construction of flats for University of Derby students.

Agard Court opened to students at the start of the 2018-19 academic year. The vibrant, modern flats accommodate between four and six students and house 244 students in total. The accommodation is a short walk away from Derby city centre’s main restaurants, bars and shops.

The developer of the new build flats was Jensco Holdings Ltd and the main contractor was Clegg Construction. The design, manufacture and installation of the windows on the project was undertaken by Profile 22 Approved Window Contractor Kingfisher Windows.

As a member of the Approved Window Contractors Scheme, Kingfisher has demonstrated a wealth of experience in the management of large contract supply and installation and working proactively towards on-time and on-budget completion. The company’s track record was one of the factors that saw Kingfisher secure the window contract for Agard Court through competitive tender.

Flush Tilt and Turn Windows from Profile 22 deliver optimum solution

It has a sash that is neatly positioned inside the frame of the window to create an elegant and sleek ‘flush’ appearance that delivers the appearance of aluminium, especially when complemented with a RAL 7016 smooth foil finish on white, as it was on this project.

The window has a maximum opening size of 1450 x 2300mm and offers exceptional performance because it has an air permeability value of 600Pa, a water tightness value of 600Pa and a wind resistance value of 2400Pa.

The window is Secured by Design accredited and meets PAS24:2016 standards for security.

Other key elements in the specification of the windows for Agard Court was the use of acoustic glazing on road elevations and the use of clear solar control glazing on south facing elevations. Jonny Reynolds, Technical Director at Kingfisher Windows, worked closely with the team at Clegg Construction and Profile 22 to ensure all calculations were provided and all requirements met.

A busy city centre construction site

The company’s team is experienced in working closely with other on-site teams to ensure installation runs smoothly and on schedule. As a result, installation was completed on time and on budget.

A high profile result

Jonny is delighted with the finished result and says: “It’s a fantastic building.” It was the first time Kingfisher had worked with Clegg Construction on a contract, but Jonny says the quality of the relationship and the Profile 22 product has already led to further contracts being agreed with the contractor. It’s a clear indication of what Profile 22 products and the Profile 22 Specification Service has to offer.
