FGIA will host a webinar entitled “ICC 500-2020: Updates to the Tornado and Hurricane Storm Shelter Standard” on Tuesday, February 2 at 11:30 a.m. Eastern.

This webinar will provide an overview of the changes made to the newest edition of ICC 500 storm shelter requirements. The ICC 500 Committee worked over the last two and a half years to complete the 2020 edition, as well as updates to the standard commentary. The standard was last updated and released in 2014.

“Webinar participants will also receive an update on the activities of the FGIA ICC 500 Monitoring Work Group, which was formed to monitor the progression and changes to this standard that could affect FGIA member companies,” said presenter Dave Stammen, Principal Engineer for the Building Science Group at UL LLC and Chair of the Work Group.

About the Speaker

Dave Stammen is a graduate of Wright State University, with a mechanical engineering and MBA degrees, and has over 25 years of experience designing, testing and researching exterior building envelope products. Stammen is active within the building envelope industry, specifically around product performance and code development. His primary focus for UL covers the technical matters for building envelope performance testing, and certification for building envelope products, tornado and hurricane shelters and components, as well as fire and smoke damper performance.
