The first edition of the two-day Chile Glass event dedicated to the glass industry concluded with many regarding it as a success.

Chile Glass 2018, the business meeting dedicated to the glass industry held November 27 and 28 at the Crowne Plaza Santiago Hotel, offered the major international suppliers of machinery and technological solutions the opportunity to get in contact with glass professionals from Chile and South America.

Approximately 40 companies taking part in the event met visitors representing glassworks, glass processing companies, construction companies, investment companies, service providers, contractors, architects and designers coming from Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom and USA.

ACHIVAL (Chilean Glass, Aluminum and PVC Association) was present in support of the event, together with some of its members: PH Glass, Glasstech, Soluex and Vinyl. Among the visitors the following glassworks stand out: Cristalerías de Chile, Cristalerías Toro, Metralum, Verallia, Vidrios Dellorto, Vidrios Lirquén from Chile; Vidrieria Primavera (Bolivia), Space Glass (Brazil) and Grupo AGV (Peru).

Along with the exhibition area, interesting conferences and workshops took place over the two days. On November 27 the welcome speech was given by Pablo Urzúa, President of ACHIVAL, followed by the presentations of Guillermo Silva (ACHIVAL Vice President) and Walter Brehm (professor of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the University of Chile); on November 28 the opening speech was held by Ivan A. Cornejo (professor of the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department at the Colorado School of Mines and a glass expert with over 20 years of experience). Furthermore, many Chile Glass exhibitors gave presentations to introduce their activities and technologies.

In 2019, other similar glass industry events will be carried out: South Africa Glass and Colombia Glass (returning for its 2nd edition, following the successful 2017 event).
